My Review on Dermacol Make-up Cover in 221:
I got this product on a recommendation of a makeup-artist I worked with. Surprisingly, this brand is available in Ansar Mall, Sharjah. I got this for AED 70.
The product comes in a small squeeze-type tube. It is the size of a small toothpaste you get as freebie/sample with a toothbrush or in a flight. But do not judge the size with the amount of coverage a tiny dot of this foundation can give.
The shade number is printed on the tube, with the date of expiry. It is kinda hard to read the print though. It comes with a leaflet for instructions on how to use it. I have a habit of throwing leaflets after I am done reading with the instructions. Hence, I don’t have it to show you people.
The foundation has a pleasant smell, however you can also smell the chemicals in it too.
The foundation has a creamy but non-runny texture. It has a thick consistency and texture. The foundation takes time to blend due to its rich consistency, but when you do finish applying this product; the result is flawless. A thin layer of foundation will cover all the imperfections on your face such as acne, dark spots and dark under eyes. Just a dot, or rather just swipe of your fingers around the nozel of the tube and you can apply it all over your face. You just need very light powder setting as anything more on the foundation can make your face cakey.
I kid you not when it comes to its staying power. It does not budge all day. The product is stuck your face like a Fevicol. Though it does crease around your lips and under eye, it does not fade or oxidizes. A light blot with tissue is all you need to touch up. It is water proof, smudge proof, sweat proof and all other proof’s you can think of.
Since it already has SPF, you need not apply sunscreen prior to applying the foundation. However, the product will be dry and stretchy for dry skin beauties. But nothing that a moisturizer or a primer cannot do. So make sure your skin is thoroughly hydrated before going ahead with this makeup cover.
You have to invest in a super powerful makeup remover to get rid of every trace of the foundation from your face. If you don’t remove and cleanse your face properly, you can have break-outs. I experienced this when I was applying it regularly and did not remove it completely, I ended up having a pimple overnight.
Due of its extreme coverage, I use this product as concealer and corrector for my under eye and dark spots. I also mix teeny bit of Dermacol to my other liquid foundation to make blending easy.
– Extreme coverage
– Super lasting powder.
– Suitable for oily/combo skin.
– A small dot of this product is all you require for your entire face
– Thin layer of application for total coverage dark spots and other pigmentation
– Water and swear proof
– Does not fade or oxidizes
– Does not require much touch up through out the day.
– Velvety matte finish
– Can be used with other liquid foundations
– Too much product in the tube. Can last you for good.
– Does not blend easily
– Requires powerful makeup remover to wipe off every trace of the product.
– Can be cakey if applied too much
– Can be patchy if applied on dehydrated skin
– Slight chemical smell can be turn off to some
– To get a match to your skin can be a little issue
– The foundation keeps oozing out without squeezing every time I open the can. Hence, making your area very messy
– Overnight break-outs only if the face is not cleansed off properly
I actually have a love-hate feeling towards this product. There are times when I feel like a superstar wearing this product, and then there are other times where I just want to rush to the loo and peel my skin off. #storyofsheikaslife.
Dermacol make-up cover is not like your everyday normal foundation use. I would recommend this product for people who have extreme skin problems and also for make-up artists who want to achieve flawless and super lasting look for their clients.
Maybe a 3/5
Stay Blessed and Beautiful!
